Customs & Clearance

Typically you'll need a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or airway bill, and any applicable certificates (e.g., phytosanitary, origin). Our customs team will guide you through the exact requirements for your specific cargo and destination.

With complete documentation, standard clearance takes 24–48 hours. We offer pre-arrival processing to reduce this further. Complex shipments or those requiring inspection may take longer, but we'll keep you informed throughout.

Yes. We are a KRA-licensed customs agent with certified customs officials on our team. This means we can process entries directly through the Simba system and represent you in all customs matters.

Yes. Through proper HS code classification, identification of applicable duty reliefs and exemptions, and leveraging trade agreements like COMESA and EAC protocols, we legally minimize your duty exposure. We never compromise on compliance — we optimize within the law.

Shipping & Freight

FCL (Full Container Load) means you book an entire container for your cargo. LCL (Less than Container Load) means your cargo shares a container with other shipments. LCL is more cost-effective for smaller volumes, while FCL offers faster transit and greater security for larger shipments.

It depends on your budget, timeline, and cargo type. Air freight is fastest but most expensive — ideal for urgent or high-value goods. Sea freight is most economical for large volumes with flexible timelines. Land freight is best for regional transport within East Africa. We'll help you choose the optimal mode for your specific needs.

Pricing & Quotes

You can request a quote by filling out the form on our Contact page, calling us at 0700 612 390 or 0713 400 819, or emailing joseph@nyumbaniglobalcargo.com. Provide your shipment details — origin, destination, cargo type, weight, and timeline — and we'll respond within 24 hours.

Yes, all quotes are completely free with no obligation. We believe in transparent pricing — you'll know the full cost upfront with no hidden fees or surprise charges. What we quote is what you pay.

Shipping costs depend on: mode of transport (sea, air, land), origin and destination, cargo weight and volume, cargo type (general, hazardous, perishable), urgency, seasonality, fuel surcharges, and customs duties. We optimize all these factors to give you the best value.

Yes, we offer credit terms for established business clients with regular shipping volumes. Credit terms are subject to credit assessment and approval. Contact us to discuss setting up a business account with credit facilities.

Tracking

You can track your shipment using our online tracking portal. Simply enter your tracking number on our Track Shipment page to see real-time status updates, current location, and estimated delivery time. You'll also receive automated email and SMS alerts at every milestone.

Tracking information is updated in real-time as your shipment passes each milestone — booking, pickup, in transit, customs clearance, out for delivery, and delivered. For GPS-tracked vehicles, location data updates continuously during transit.

If your tracking number isn't returning results, it may take a few hours for the system to update after initial booking. If the issue persists, contact your dedicated account manager or call us at 0700 612 390. We'll resolve it immediately and provide you with a status update.

Yes. You'll receive an automatic notification (email and/or SMS) when your shipment is delivered, including the delivery time and proof-of-delivery confirmation. Your account manager will also follow up to ensure you're satisfied with the service.
